Saint-Martin-de-Belleville gave the commune its name before it became Les Belleville. Perched at 1,450 metres at the entrance to the valley, it is the first of the three arrivals and the lowest — and the only one that is a village in the ordinary sense, with old buildings and narrow streets.

A village, not a purpose-built resort

The difference is real and it shows on arrival. Less constraint from altitude than at Les Menuires or Val Thorens; more constraint on vehicle size and manoeuvring. A large vehicle cannot reach everywhere a smaller one can, and for a big party the right answer is sometimes two vehicles rather than one. We say so before you book, not on the day.

Parking and drop-off

The village has free public car parks at Le Cochet, La Duche and Château Feuillet. Drop-off is made as close to your address as the vehicle’s size and the lane’s real access allow; our operations team confirms it with your booking.

Access, winter and Saturday

From Moûtiers, the D117 for twenty kilometres — around a thirty-minute climb according to the tourist office. Winter equipment is required in Savoie from 1 November to 31 March; the French traffic authority rates February Saturdays red. An early start from an old village is not the same as pulling out of a resort car park: we account for that on the way home.

Which gateway you can book from

Saint-Martin can be booked from Geneva, Lyon, Chambéry and Moûtiers station.
