Courchevel is not a single point on a map: it is a commune of Savoie organised into six tiered villages, from the hamlet of Saint-Bon at 1,100 m up to Courchevel 1850, by way of Le Praz (1,300 m), La Tania (1,400 m), Courchevel Village (1,550 m) and Moriond (1,650 m). No single altitude sums it up — and that is precisely what matters when preparing an arrival.
Your arrival level changes the drive, not just the address
The resort occupies a valley of its own, the Saint-Bon valley: the road climbing to Courchevel climbs to nowhere else. From Moûtiers it follows the D915 then the D91A — a wide, open road according to the tourist office — and it is your village that decides the final stretch. Going to the wrong level is not an address mistake: it is an extra stretch of mountain.
That is why we ask for the full address at booking, not the resort name alone. A chalet at La Tania, an apartment at Moriond and a hotel at 1850 are not approached the same way.
What winter and Saturday change
Savoie requires winter equipment from 1 November to 31 March, and the French traffic authority (Bison Futé) rates February Saturdays red in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, with official advice to avoid the RN90 between Albertville and Moûtiers from 9am to 7pm. On a Saturday the whole valley changes over in a single day: we set the pick-up against your flight or your train, then adjust it on the day. That day’s journey time is prepared for, never promised.
Luggage, skis and the vehicle
Volume decides as much as headcount: a set of ski equipment takes a hold space, and a family staying a fortnight does not load like a couple on a weekend. Tell us what you are bringing, not just how many of you there are — that is what determines the vehicle, and sometimes the second vehicle.
