Bourg-Saint-Maurice is the terminus: the Tarentaise railway stops here, at 840 m, and everything higher continues by road. In season the station receives direct TGVs from Paris and the winter ski trains from London, which arrive together and empty onto a single concourse — the driver therefore waits at the concourse exit with a name board, and the car is loaded a few steps away.

The winter Saturday

Rotation Saturdays shape this station: morning arrivals climb, afternoon departures descend, and the through-town traffic peaks around midday. A pick-up planned twenty minutes after scheduled arrival absorbs a late train without wasting an hour when it is on time — the margin is set with the booking, not improvised.

The difference from an airport transfer

There is no baggage belt and no customs: from doors opening to driving off rarely takes ten minutes. The trade-off is the single arrival wave — when the London train and a Paris TGV land together, the forecourt fills fast, which is exactly when a pre-assigned driver matters. The funicular to Arc 1600 leaves from right beside the station for guests who prefer to finish the climb by rail.

Frequently asked questions — Bourg-Saint-Maurice Station

About this place

Where exactly does the driver wait?

At the concourse exit, name board visible — the station has one concourse, so you cannot miss each other.

Our train is delayed — will the driver still be there?

Train arrivals are monitored the way flights are; the pick-up follows the actual arrival.

Can we be taken to the Arc 1600 funicular instead of by road?

The funicular leaves from beside the station; if you prefer it for the climb, the booking simply covers the luggage logistics.
