Lyon → Les Menuires

Let us start with a confusion that costs people money every season: Lyon-Saint-Exupéry airport is not in Lyon. It stands in the commune of Colombier-Saugnieu, twenty-five kilometres east of the city according to its operator. Booking a hotel night “in Lyon” before an early flight, or planning dinner in town between landing and departure, assumes a round trip that many discover too late.

A resort with no single centre

Les Menuires belongs to the commune of Les Belleville and is reached by the valley road, before Val Thorens. What makes it distinctive is its shape: the resort does not gather around a centre, it spreads along the slope in successive quarters, each with its own access.

Two consequences for a party. First, “Les Menuires” names an area, not an address: the quarter decides the approach. Second, if your group is split across several properties, those properties may not be neighbours — and one drop-off can turn into three stops. We would rather know at booking.

The time is free-flowing driving, excluding winter conditions: it places the journey, it does not commit it. Traffic, weather, changeover Saturday and your final address all move it — your flight sets the departure time.
