Something easily forgotten when booking a flight to Chambéry: the town also has a railway station, Chambéry-Challes-les-Eaux. Nobody cares about that while everything goes to plan — and it becomes useful on the day something does not.

Les Menuires belongs to the commune of Les Belleville and is reached before Val Thorens. The resort does not gather around a centre: it spreads along the slope in successive quarters, each with its own access. The quarter decides the approach — the resort name alone is not enough to prepare an arrival.

What the figures on this page are worth

The distance and journey time shown are measured on the public road network, from the Chambéry terminal to the resort’s public reference point — its tourist office — never to your accommodation. The time is free-flowing driving, excluding winter conditions: on a short run it gives the order of magnitude, it promises nothing. Traffic, weather and changeover Saturday move it, and it is your actual exit from the terminal that sets the pick-up.
