Chamonix is a valley, not a point: the addresses run twenty kilometres from Les Houches through Chamonix centre and Les Praz up to Argentière and Le Tour, at the foot of Mont Blanc. The difference matters — Le Tour adds a good quarter of an hour to a drop in Les Houches — so the booking carries the hamlet, not just “Chamonix”.
The most direct alpine approach
The A40 runs almost to the valley mouth and the road stays dual carriageway deep into the mountains — which is why late-evening arrivals into Geneva remain workable for Chamonix when they would be marginal for the Tarentaise. It is also the corridor to the Mont Blanc tunnel: holiday-weekend traffic towards Italy can slow the final kilometres.
From Les Houches to Le Tour
The town centre is partly pedestrian; for the few hotels inside it the driver stops at the closest authorised point and walks the luggage with you. Cross-border requests through the tunnel — Courmayeur and beyond — are handled at booking so vehicle and paperwork are planned.
